My Mom
Loved the lake (Minaki Ontario) she spent many a summer enjoying a simpler way of life and the beauty of that part of Canada. There would be many days on the dock or rock enjoying sun, swimming and boating finished with great meals with family and friends.
Mom also made Christmas such a magical time; the house would smell like pine and sugar cookies, there would be so many presents under the beautifully decorated and lighted tree.
She loved to bake; at Christmas there would be no end to the cookies, slices, fruit cake tarts and other goodies.
Boxing evening we would always have a special buffet with Uncle Bob and the gang; there would be tourtier, layered sandwiches, Swedish meatballs, cheese and cracker desserts I could go on and on - just a wonderful feast and special evening.
She was an amazing seamstress; she could sew absolutely anything; I always had beautiful outfits she lovingly made for me.
Mom loved her job at Boeing of Canada where she made so many dear lifelong friends then it was time for a new adventure – Saudi Arabia!
Mom made dear friends in Saudi and loved to go shopping; especially at the gold souks.
Mom retired from formal work after they came back from Saudi. Mom had the monumental job of getting their new house up-to-snuff! Mom was a fastidious house keeper and her home glowed from all her hard work; she loved her home on Rathburn drive.
The last few years she lived and St. Michaels Centre in Burnaby; where she was adored by the staff. While she was able she took part in and enjoyed all the activities. We spent many happy hours on Friday afternoons being entertained by musicians; most memorable was a Liberace like performer who changed glittery jackets for each song.
I am thankful for the staff at St. Michaels Centre; they took loving care of my Mom and for that I am so very grateful.
I love you Mom there will always be a part of you in my heart
Your daughter Barbara
