The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Michael Chew can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Goodbye Mike

Dear Mike,

The Stadium, as you know, is a truly international place considering its staff, for the life-enrichening benefit to all of us.  I remember an incident, possibly 20 years ago, when an exhibitor was moving materials into his booth for the trade show he was participating in and needed advice and direction from you in your duty at the East Air Lock.  He bridled at the needed instructions and responded to them in an insulting way.  This was a person slow to catch on to the rising internationality of society in that day and particularly in the Stadium.  I knew you well as a stable, level person who would not have incited that man as did Mike Allan our manager at the time who upon hearing of the incident found the exhibitor on the Stadium floor and made him understand his actions toward a staff member were not tolerable and would not be tolerated again.  I know that because it was you on the suffering side of the incident the manager was galvanized into action so quickly.  Such was the regard in which you were held.

In a Control Room conversation I warmly remember comparing the academic prowess of some of our young relatives - meaning marks at school.  Mine were good but yours were somewhat higher.

The lunch we discussed planning a few months ago I so regret we won't be having soon.  We'll put it off for a while.  Find us a table.

You will continue to be sorely missed,

Alan
