The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Michael Chew can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Thank you Mike

I met Mike only 7 years ago when I first started at BC Place. I say "only" 7 years ago because in the BC Place family that would still pretty much make me a newbie to this day. When I started Mike was already there for 24 years. He was one of the first people I met when on shift and right off the bat he was helpful and had words of wisdom. A true mentor to all through action and deed. He conducted himself with honour and was always the voice of reason and understanding.

As time moved on my work role changed and I filled in for scheduling here and there. One of my favourite games was "where in the world will Mike Chew be today?” I would call him for shifts and he would say "I am in Ireland, but I can make it there Friday night for sure" or "I am in Korea, but I can still work the game no problem", etc. It came to a point where my phone calls would begin with "Hi Mike, where are you today and what time is it there?"

Rest in peace Mike and peace to you on your new journey. We will miss you.
