Two cowards on a hike

Aunty was probably about the age I am now, 65, when she came along with me on a trip to the West Coast. We climbed out on the rocks by the ocean, probably somewhere near Chesterman Beach. I thought she was a really good sport and she was clearly enjoying herself.

On our way back we stopped to go on a forest hike, I'm thinking it was probably at Little Qualicum Falls. As dusk was coming down, we were on a straight stretch of the trail, two people ahead of us quite a ways off, a Dad and his son. Aunty and I, being the cowards that we both were, began yacking about bears and how we shouldn't be in the woods at dusk. Next thing you know, up ahead we see these two big arms around a tree and hear this loud deep growling sound. We both nearly jumped out of our skins! Of course, it was the man and his son, playing a joke on us, having heard us yacking about bears. They had a really good laugh and we continued on our way with as much dignity as we could manage :-)
