Best Uncle in the world

How do I describe someone I call the best Uncle in the world ... he is loving, caring, kind, helpful and generous in many ways .... whenever he visited Singapore, he will always ask if I needed help to fix or repair anything in my home.  When I visited him in Vancouver in July 2014, he will prepare my favourite breakfast like chwee kueh one day, then chye tow kueh, then blueberry pancakes (all tasted delicious as Uncle is a very good cook!).  He spent time chatting with me in the mornings as I ate blueberries freshly picked from his beautiful garden (he loved gardening and the results showed it).  When I needed to catch a bus to Seattle,he drove me in the early morning to make sure I catch the bus in downtown Vancouver on time. He even drove from Vancouver to Seattle to fetch me after my cruise though I told him not to but he said he enjoyed the drive.  Uncle goes out of his way to do these things and I truly appreciate him for this.

When Uncle visited Singapore in January 2014, I brought him to eat yong tau foo and he said "how did you know it was my favourite?"  Actually, I didn't know ...and it made me happy seeing him enjoying it as it was my favourite too!  He said the same to me about chendol when I bought it for him .... which also happens to be my favourite too!

It saddens me that I will not get to see his cheery smile or hear his warm "hello"  or invite him to yong tau foo meals anymore. Although I did not manage to go to Vancouver this year, I am glad for the chance to spend bonding time with him last July and those moments I will aways treasure in my heart.

Missing you soooo much ... from your loving niece Cecilia
