Wayne getting to know his cousin, Pat

Wayne was a teenager, when he arrived at our home, on Pendrell Street, in the West End. He was wearing a complete suit & tie. Arriving in a new country, and not knowing the customs, he obviously thought it was a good idea to put his best foot forward. I'm sure the adult Aunts & Uncles thought he was a proper young man. Wayne & I talked for awhile - where he was from, why he was here. Interesting enough, but then, I spied my Mom's large sewing scissors. I picked them up, tested them, and walked towards Wayne, ... no, towards Wayne's TIE. I held his tie, and said, "I can cut this". Wayne said, "No you wouldn't". 'Oh, yes, I can." "No you wouldn't." Was that a dare? For a moment, my conscience said, "NO!", but it was fleeting, and S-N-I-P went the scissors and S-N-I-P went the TIE! Wayne's eyes bugged out & his mouth gaped open, not believing what had just happened; I remember him being speechless. But Wayne wasn't speechless for long; he fitted in very quickly - he always laughing & joking around, and reading those darn comic books - when he should have been studying!
