The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jesse Burges can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Remembering Jesse - Journeyman at 10

As we scanned through our old photo albums so many of our pictures are of the 5 kids, Jesse, Joel, Ryan, Alexis and Scott, growing up together.  Birthday parties, Xmas, Easter, pre-school, sporting events, lacrosse, cadets, camping in Skagit, graduation etc.  The kids got along so well together that they can look back and realize that they had a special childhood filled with fun times.  Jesse was the oldest and he looked after Ryan like a big brother.  The two of them could also get into trouble ….such as almost starting a forest fire while camping in the Bowron Lakes and tipping a canoe while fully clothed.

We think that Jess may have had his journeyman plumbing ticket at 10 years old.  Jim (no-leak) and his sidekicks, Jesse and Joel worked for weeks on the hot water heat and plumbing in our current house.  Jesse had an excellent teacher in Jim who was always barking orders at him like he was a tradesmen.  “Jesse…hand me that wrench, no not that wrench, the bigger one, as if a 10 year old should know.”

He was such a helpful and curious child that you could turn around while barbequing and he’d be right there to assist in any way he could, while the other kids would be watching TV.

We didn’t see Jesse as much as we would have like in recent years but I think that was mainly due to everyone’s busy family life.  We are all on our own journey in this life and we were happy anytime Jesse and his little family came around.

Bill noted that the last time he saw Jesse was about a month ago and he greeted him with a big grin and a “Hi Uncle Bill” and he let me give him a nice big man hug.  It was such a good memory for Bill and a happy one, but for some reason makes him sad to think of it now.

Jesse unquestionably grew up surrounded by the love of family and friends and he will be dearly missed.

Our deepest sympathies and love go to Chris, Jim and Joel during this difficult time.
